In September 2018 SaskEnergy submitted an application to the Panel proposing to lower the Commodity Rate that it charges its customers, to take effect April 1, 2019. The application also included a request to increase the Delivery Service Rate, also effective April 1, 2019. SaskEnergy also proposed an interim reduction in the Commodity Rate to take effect November 1, 2018, which the Panel recommended and the government approved.
The Panel’s review process included public consultations, including a public meeting in Regina on October 17, 2018. The meeting was live streamed to encourage public participation. A video of the meeting is available here.
The review also included a technical review of the application conducted by outside experts. After considering the input received from the public and the technical analysis the Panel submitted its Report with its recommendations to the government, which will make the final decision.
